By accessing or using Starverse (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

Starverse is a free, open-source web application that helps developers organize, search, and manage their GitHub starred repositories. The Service provides features including:

To use Starverse, you must authenticate using your GitHub account via GitHub OAuth. By signing in, you authorize Starverse to access your public GitHub profile information and starred repositories. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account.

5. AI Features & BYOK
Starverse offers optional AI-powered tag suggestion features. To use these features, you must provide your own API key from a supported provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter). By providing your API key:
- You are solely responsible for any costs incurred through use of your API key
- You confirm you have the right to use the key and comply with the provider's terms
- Repository metadata (names, descriptions, README content) may be sent to third-party AI providers
- Starverse encrypts your keys at rest but cannot guarantee security of data once transmitted to third-party providers
6. Intellectual Property
Starverse is open-source software licensed under its repository's license. The Service does not claim ownership of any content from your GitHub repositories. All repository data displayed within Starverse remains the property of its respective owners.
7. Data & Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Service Availability
We strive to keep Starverse available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time without prior notice.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or continuously available.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Starverse and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
11. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed from our systems. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
